Who doesn’t love snack time?! Yes, I will admit that as an adult, I look forward to snack time just as much as my toddlers! And, no I’m not ashamed of that! Lol! I listed some of my favorite healthy ‘go-to’ snacks! And guess what?! They’re all less than 150 calories!! There’s even a snack that includes chocolate! Check it out!
Okay, so let me tell you guys a little secret…I’ve never tried persimmon until now! I know, sad right?! I’ve always used the word, persimmon, to describe the color of makeup or an outfit, but I never actually tasted it until now! I can’t believe that I waited so long to taste this delicious, sweet fruit!! Now, I’ve become addicted to persimmons and I like to eat them in a variety of ways. My favorite way is adding a teaspoon of chopped pecans and a dash of cinnamon. YUM! Besides being delicious, persimmons are also rich in vitamins and minerals that can help boost your immune system and improve your eye health! This snack is only 135 calories!
When I’m looking for a more satisfying snack, I often make myself a loaded toast! This is also a great breakfast option, but I enjoy it as my afternoon ‘pick-me-up!’ This toast is super easy to make. Just choose to use your favorite brand of bread (I like to use low-cal bread, 40 calories or less), spread on a tablespoon of peanut butter, add a few slices of strawberries, and sprinkle with a few sunflower seeds! The protein from the peanut butter keeps me satisfied until my next meal and gives me that extra boost of energy that I usually ALWAYS need! Lol! This snack is only 149 calories for 1 toast!
Now, this snack is probably one of my favorites! I love hummus, especially when it’s paired with pita chips! I know there are tons of different hummus flavors, but I really enjoy adding my own toppings. My favorite toppings include a drizzle of olive oil with sprinkle of rosemary and red pepper! When making this snack, choose a smaller bowl to help keep your portions moderate. This entire snack is only 140 calories!
Chocolate, Yayyy!! Anybody that knows me knows that I love chocolate. Like, I have a serious obsession with chocolate!! I could eat it for every meal! Seriously! But we all know that wouldn’t be the healthiest choice! This snack idea is a great way to enjoy chocolate without consuming an overload of calories! Just take a few apple slices and drizzle about a tablespoon of melted milk chocolate on top. Sprinkle a few pistachios for the finishing touch! Pistachios are a great source of healthy fats and protein, so I like to use them whenever possible! This snack is approximately 90 calories!
