Thank you, Dollar General, for sponsoring this post! As always, all thoughts and opinions are truly my own.
School is almost back in session, and I have one question for you…are you ready?? I know that this school year is going to look a lot different for a lot of us. Some of us are choosing a remote learning, or homeschooling option for our kids, while some parents are choosing the traditional, in-person learning option. My husband and I have gone back and forth about our decision, but I finally feel that we are prepared and ready!
Since I am working from home and have a flexible work schedule, we decided to do remote learning for this school year. My oldest son has been looking forward to his first day of kindergarten for the past year, so I felt a little guilty about choosing the remote learning option. I had a long talk with my son and explained that he was going to be able to see his teacher on his computer and learn lots of new things from home. He became excited all over again…especially when I told him that we were going Back to School shopping at Dollar General!
Dollar General is one of my favorite stores because they have the best prices and the best deals! You can even download the DG App and use Digital Coupons to help you save even more! Right now, there’s a $5 OFF $15 stationary digital coupon available, and a $5 OFF $25 digital coupon available each Saturday. Add if you’re a teacher, you can save 20% OFF just by showing your badge at checkout! Teachers, be sure to check out DG’s Teacher’s Central for tips and ideas.
I was able to get everything that was on my son’s school supply list, plus a few cute items for my home office!
Here’s what I got:
- 5-in-1 Dinos Backpack $10.00
- Wide Ruled Filler Paper $1.00
- 1 Subject Notebooks $1.00

- Kids Scissors $1.00
- Clear Glue $1.75
- Glue Sticks $1.85
- Pocket Laminated Folders $1.00
- Activity Books $1.00
- Highlighters $1.50
To help keep this mama organized, I purchased a dry erase board to write down our daily lesson plans, a few notebooks to keep up with my daily work schedule, and a few of these nifty Office Hub items. I also picked up some activity books to help make learning fun and to keep them entertained!
Here’s a list of the items that I bought for my Home Office:
- Dry Erase Board $5.50

- Fashion Binder $4.00
- Office Hub Pens $1.00

We found some really cool supplies, but my son was really excited about his new “big boy” backpack. I loved that it came with a matching lunchbox, which was a great deal!
In addition to stocking up on school supplies, I also purchased several food items for his lunchbox, which included Lunchables, juice boxes, and Clover Valley packaged fruit. I also picked up some Clover Valley pastries to help make breakfast time a breeze and a few snack/sandwich bags to help keep things organized!
Here’s a list of my Grocery Items:
- Lunchables $1.95
- Clover Valley Applesauce $1.00
- 8 pack Juice $1.75
- Clover Valley Peach Cups $2.00
- Clover Valley Strawberry Pastries $1.00
- Sandwich Bags $1.00

Even though we’ll be doing remote learning, I still plan on packing a lunchbox for my kids to help keep things organized and stress-free. Plus, my son really loves his new lunchbox and begged me to pack him a school lunch every day!
Before wrapping up our shopping trip, I decided to pick up a couple of face masks and hand sanitizer. I love that Dollar General placed these items near the checkout area for convenience. I also loved that they took lots of measures to keep their customers safe. There were markers on the floor to help customers stay 6 feet apart, and there were sneeze guards located around the checkout area. Some Dollar General stores even have the option of DG Pickup. Click HERE to see if this is available at your local store.
I’m really glad that Dollar General had everything that we needed to start our school year. To be completely honest with you, I was feeling a little discouraged about starting this school year, but after a day full of school shopping with my son, I felt excited and eager to make this the best school year ever! We got this, mamas!
