One of my most memorable childhood moments included spending time at my grandmother’s house during summer vacation! My cousins and I would play outside from dusk to dawn…or at least until the street lights came on!
My grandmother ALWAYS cooked the best food! And on special occasions, she would break out that charcoal grill and cooked enough food to feed an army! These summer cookouts turned into an unexpected neighborhood block party! Lol! The neighbors would smell that delicious, grilled food which lured them into my grandmother’s yard!
During these summer cookouts, my favorite part was the grilled burgers! I would try to find the biggest burger with the most grill marks lol! I liked for my burgers to have a little crunch! As an adult, not much has changed! Whenever we host a family cookout, I still looked forward to those grilled burgers!
To officially kick off summer, the hubs and I decided to host a cookout for our close friends and family! This inspired me to add a little twist to my traditional burger recipe! Since peanut butter is one of the best creations ever, I wanted to incorporate that into my burger recipe! I really enjoy bold, Thai flavors so I decided to make Thai Peanut Butter Grilled Burgers! When paired with the right savory ingredients, you’ll be surprised to know that peanut butter adds some amazing flavor! It also adds some great benefits too!
In just 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, you’ll get 8 powerful grams of protein, two grams of filling fiber and 12 grams of unsaturated fat! And besides being affordable, peanut butter is very versatile! It can be added to meals and snacks for a tasty, nutritious boost all-year round, including summertime! This is why I like to keep several jars stocked in my pantry! ?
When making these Thai Peanut Butter Grilled Burgers, I whisked together peanut butter, reduced sodium soy sauce, ground ginger, and garlic powder. I added a little salt and pepper to taste and added the mixture to 2 lbs. of ground beef. I also threw in about ½ cup of chopped green onions for extra flavor.
I combined all of the ingredients and formed 8 patties. I grilled the patties for about 5 minutes on each side, until the burgers were completely cooked throughout.
Now it’s time for the fun part…
In my opinion, the best part of a grilled burger (besides eating it) is the toppings! I love to see how many veggies I can pile on top before it starts to tip over! Lol! For these Thai Peanut Butter Grilled Burgers, I topped them with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, purple onions, mayo, mustard, and ketchup! Yum!!
