Before we get into these fabulous products, I want to provide you with a little disclaimer…I am not a professional hair stylist, and these products/tips seem to work great for me! Everyone is different, so be sure to choose a hair regimen that is right for you! And remember that protective styling is meant to be short-term. You should never keep braids for longer than 6-8 weeks. Any longer than that can cause damage and even hair loss.
Top 6 Products to Make Your Braids Last Longer…
African Pride Original Braid Sheen Spray
Having a good braid spray is super important because it helps to add shine and prevent itching. It can also soothe and relieve tight braids. My favorite brand is this African Pride Original Braid Sheen Spray. I usually moisturize my braids with this spray once a day.
Sulfur 8 Medicated Conditioner
Okay, so this tip is for those that struggle with a super itchy scalp and dandruff. My scalp is extremely dry, so I have to use a medicated conditioner to help with the itching and the flaking. I like to condition my scalp with this at least 1-2 times a week. It doesn’t smell the best and it will tingle a little, but it works very well!

Tea Tree Oil is another product that helps with an itchy scalp. I like to use this product as needed. You can also add a few drops to your moisturizer for super soft skin!!
This may seem like a no brainer, but excessive scratching can mess up your braids and cause them to frizz. If I have an itch or if I need to reach a hard-to-reach area, I will use the tail of a rat-tail comb to get to those areas to avoid messing up my style.
Ebin 24 Hour Edge Tamer Extra Mega Hold
I always keep a jar of this Ebin 24 Hour Edge Tamer Extra Mega Hold on hand to help keep those “baby hairs” intact! I’ve tried SEVERAL edge control products, and this one is my favorite! It doesn’t leave behind that annoying white residue and it actually lasts for 24 hours! You can easily give your braids a fresh look by applying a little bit of this edge control along your hairline to get those edges looking nice and neat!
Satin bonnet – This is by far THE most important tip!! Going to bed without wrapping your braids can cause pre-mature frizzing. I always use THIS bonnet to secure my braids, which allows my style to look good as new for a lot longer!
And as promised, here are the lashes that I have on in my pics! Ardell Wispies Cluster. These are my FAVORITE lashes and I like to order them in bulk to make sure that I never run out! ?
