During the holiday season, our busy schedule includes one holiday gathering after another! It’s something that I look forward to because I love to spend time with my friends and family! I love decorating and putting together a tasty menu that they will talk about for years to come! ?
Even though I love to cook, it’s a rare occasion that I actually get to enjoy myself at these gatherings because I’m too busy replenishing the food and serving my guests! Building a charcuterie board for our upcoming holiday breakfast was the perfect solution!
I love charcuterie boards because they are eye-catching and very functional! You can arrange all of your food in an appetizing way and allow your guests to serve themselves. There’s no need to serve anyone or replenish anything because it’s all there! Genius, right?!
So, what do you need to make an amazing breakfast charcuterie board?
First thing’s first…you have to choose a large board, tray, or platter to hold all of your beautifully arranged food! I usually will use a wooden cutting board or a wooden serving tray.
When it comes to the food, I like to keep things familiar—so I start with these items:
· Eggs (poached, boiled, or fried).
· Bacon and/or Sausage
· Bread (this can be toast, croissants, biscuits, etc… )
· Fruit
· Nuts
· Yogurt
I like to give my guests a choice of two breakfast meats, so I decided to include both sausage and bacon!
After my sausage and bacon were cooked, I started arranging the items on my serving tray. I placed my croissants in the corners and my biscotti in the center, next to a bowl of honey-topped vanilla Greek yogurt.
My produce included strawberries, blackberries, and apples. You can choose to use any combination that you want, but I knew that my guests would love these options! I arranged the fruit on the board in a cute and organized fashion and added the eggs, sausage, and bacon in between those items.
Finally, I filled in all the nooks and crannies with pecans. You can choose to use any small snacks, such as almonds, olives, gherkin pickles, or dried fruit. I think that my Holiday Breakfast Charcuterie Board turned out fantastic! It was bright, appetizing, and literally took just a few minutes to put together!
