3 Easy Ways to Increase Your Protein Intake

This post is sponsored by FAGE; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Have you ever wondered if you’re getting enough protein? Or maybe you’ve realized that you needed to increase your protein intake, but didn’t know exactly how to do this. Whatever the case may be, I completely understand! Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day to make sure that every meal or snack is perfectly balanced. To help make things a little easier, I’m sharing my top 3 Easy Ways to Increase Your Protein Intake.

But before we get to that, let’s talk a little bit more about protein!

So, what is protein?

Protein provides energy and supports our mood and cognitive functions. It’s necessary for building, maintaining, and repairing tissues, cells, and organs throughout the body. There are several food sources that provide protein such as, meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, grains, beans, vegetables, and nuts. My favorite way to add in a little extra protein is with FAGE Greek yogurt.

FAGE is my top choice because it provides a variety of delicious options that can easily fit into your life, morning to night! Some of my favorites are FAGE Total Plain Greek yogurt, FAGE Total Split Cup, and FAGE TruBlend. For those who are lactose intolerant, there is even new FAGE BestSelf! From creamy and protein-packed to sweet and decadent—there’s literally something for everyone!

Okay, so let’s get to it!

3 Ways to Add Protein

  1. Swap Regular Yogurt You’re Not Satisfied With for Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt is a great source of protein and calcium, with no added sugar. You can even use it in sweet or savory recipes! When making these substitutions, I like to use FAGE Total Plain Greek yogurt. It’s rich, creamy, and comes in 3 different milk fat percentages: 0% nonfat, 2% lowfat, and 5% whole milk. It’s the perfect addition to my whole wheat muffins, and the perfect topper on my loaded baked sweet potatoes!

  1. Try Having Eggs for Breakfast

Swap your bowl of cereal for a serving of eggs. Eggs are so versatile and they contain a great source of protein! You can enjoy them hard-boiled, soft scrambled, or my favorite—sunny-side up! You can even add a few sweet peppers, vegetables, or a side of Greek yogurt with fruit to make it a complete meal.

  1. Add a Handful of Nuts to Your Favorite Snack

Nuts are not only a great crunch element to any meal or snack, but they’re also packed with protein and antioxidants. There are several yummy nuts to choose from, but my favorite is walnuts! I love to sprinkle a few on top of my FAGE Total Split Cup for a delicious snack, which is great for on-the-go! FAGE Total Split Cup is rich, creamy and made with milk from non-GMO fed cows. My favorite flavor is blueberry! Yum!
