There’s a new board on the block! The butter board is a TikTok viral trend that has taken the foodie world by storm! I’m going to show you how to make the viral TikTok Butter Board and how I put my own spin on it and created this AMAZING Fig & Walnut Butter Board!
TikTok made me do it, lol! The butter board has been going viral on TikTok thanks to food influencer Justine Doiron (@justine_snacks). She posted about the butter board on TikTok, has over 8 million views so I just had to try it!
So, what is a butter board?
A butter board is literally a board with butter on it—but with a little extra pizazz! These butter boards mimic the concept of a charcuterie board by allowing you to add a variety of flavors and textures. It’s such a fun and delicious way to serve up bread and butter.
How do you make your own butter board?
Butter boards are super easy to make. Start off by spreading softened butter onto a wooden board or cheese board. Customize it by adding a few of your favorite toppings.
For this tasty fig and walnut butter board, I added a combination of fresh figs, walnuts, basil, arugula, and topped it off with a drizzle of honey. Yum!
You could even choose to make a savory board and include a combination of garlic, red pepper flakes, seeds, nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh herbs—the list goes on and on. I’ve even seen some people use peanut butter or cream cheese, instead of butter, for a fun twist! The possibilities are endless!
Serve it up with some crusty bread for dipping and you’ll have a party starter that everyone will be talking about!

Fig & Walnut Butter Board
- 2 sticks butter softened
- 8 figs sliced
- ¼ cup walnuts chopped
- ¼ cup arugula
- ¼ cup fresh basil
- 1-2 tablespoons honey
- Toasted bread to serve
- Spread the butter onto a wooden board.
- Top with sliced figs, walnuts, arugula, and basil. Drizzle with honey for the finishing touch.
- Serve with toasted bread or crackers. Enjoy!
