How to Make Stove Top Potpourri Recipe

Creating that perfect fall smell is surprisingly very easy. All it takes is a few items, many of which you probably already have in your kitchen. For this stovetop recipe, simply fill a large pot or saucepan with 6 cups of water, orange slices, lemon slices, whole cloves, pumpkin spice seasoning, vanilla, cinnamon sticks, and fresh rosemary.

Simmer on low throughout the day, as desired. Add in more water if needed.

How Long Do I Simmer Stovetop Potpourri?

You can simmer stovetop potpourri for as long as you desire, but if you are more sensitive to smells, I recommend simmering your stovetop potpourri for about 30 minutes. Be sure to add more water if needed.

How Long Does Stovetop Potpourri Last?

Personally, I’ve used the same batch of stovetop potpourri for about 3-4 days. After the first day, the stovetop potpourri may not look as beautiful as it did when you begin simmering it, but the scent is still very nice. After about 3-4 days, the potpourri will become mushy which means that it’s time to discard it.  Simply drain out the excess water and discard the fruit & herbs.

You’ll be amazed at how fragrant this lovely DIY potpourri scent is and how your house is transformed into a crisp, beautiful fall day!
