Step 1: Baking Sweet Potatoes to Perfection

Start by baking your sweet potatoes until they are tender and easily pierced with a fork. This step unlocks the natural sweetness of the potatoes, adding a caramelized touch to your tortillas.

Step 2: Mash, Mix, Knead

Once your sweet potatoes are ready, mash them thoroughly in a bowl. Add all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt to create a dough-like consistency. Knead the mixture until it forms a smooth, pliable dough.

Step 3: Divide and Conquer

Divide the dough into small, golf ball-sized portions. This step ensures uniformity in your tortilla sizes, guaranteeing a consistent cooking experience.

Step 4: Roll, Press, Cook

On a floured surface, roll out each portion into a thin tortilla. You can use a tortilla press or a rolling pin for this step. Cook the tortillas on a hot griddle or skillet until they achieve that perfect golden hue.
